Senate Candidate Calls On John Bell To Return Money Collected At Event Held With Controversial Governor
LEESBURG, VIRGINIA — Geary Higgins, a member of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors who is running for the Virginia Senate in District 13, is condemn opponent John Bell’s decision to hold a campaign fundraising event with controversial Virginia governor Ralph Northam. Governor Northam, who in college was known “Coonman”, was besieged with controversy last February when he had posed for a racist photograph that was later included on his medical school yearbook page.
“Delegate Bell has clearly been bought off by Governor Northam’s promise of campaign funding”, said Geary Higgins. Delegate Bell at first condemned Governor Northam’s despicable behavior, only to now hold fundraising events with him. He must do so and should also refuse any money raised by the event with the Governor,” Higgins added.
“Associating with someone who either dressed in blackface or as a Klansman in the world of public policy sends a very bad message to not only voters in northern virginia, but also our children. John Bell is a hypocrite of worst kind concluded Higgins.”
Geary Higgins has since 2011 served on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. He is the Republican Party nominee for the Virginia Senate District 13 election this November.
